Advocacy Fit for the Future Conference 2017

‘Advocacy fit for the future’ – North East and Cumbria Region Advocacy Conference – 29th and 30th March 2017

The conference brought self advocates, professional advocates, advocacy providers and commissioners together to hear examples of great advocacy happening in the region.

It also provided an opportunity to think about going beyond traditional methods of advocating on behalf of people and to consider if there were ways things could be done differently to be more effective and efficient.

Workshops covered:

What advocacy is.

What experiences people had of advocacy.

Why advocacy is everyone’s job and how to get this message across.

How to make professional advocacy better and self advocacy stronger.

How self advocacy can be supported when money is being channelled into statutory advocacy

Sustainability for grassroots organisations.

How to get stronger as a movement.

How to leave people feeling stronger and more able to speak up.
