Inclusion North and Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training
Inclusion North, as part of the Good Life Collaborative, has been involved in the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training since the 2021 pilot.
This training is named after Oliver McGowan. Oliver was a young man whose death shone a light on the need for health and social care staff to have better skills, knowledge and understanding of the needs of people with a learning disability and autistic people.
The Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism is the government’s mandatory training for health and social care staff.
Our hub of experts has a wealth of lived experience to deliver training, including Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training.
The added benefit of Inclusion North delivering the training is that, alongside our co-trainers with a learning disability and autism, our facilitators are family carers of people with a learning disability or autism.
There are different levels of training that can be offered to learners based on their job role and organisational requirements.
Tier 1 Training
Comprises Part 1, an e-learning module that must be completed prior to the Part 2 online live webinar.
Specifically for staff who may not work directly with people with a learning disability or autistic people, who need a general understanding of their needs,
Tier 2 Training
Comprises a full day of face-to-face training.
Specifically for staff with a public patient-care role. This training session covers more in-depth content for staff who work with, support or care for people with a learning disability and autistic people.
