My Ordinary Life Podcast

Inclusion North have recorded two series of a filmed podcast called My Ordinary Life. We want to show that people who have a learning disability can live fulfilling lives given the right opportunities.

Series One

Series one of the podcast has nine episodes.

Each episode will be about a different person who has a learning disability.

We want to celebrate their lives.

Our guests come from different backgrounds.

They have told their stories and shared their wisdom.

Many have supported their communities, have interesting hobbies and lives full of joy and love.

Their stories will raise awareness of the challenges and barriers they face in their daily lives.

We hope our listeners will think about what part they can play in everyone having an ordinary life.

Series Two

Series two of the podcast has four episodes.

This series was made with our Stop People Dying Too Young group.

The Stop People Dying Too Young group are people who have a learning disability, autistic people and family carers.

You can find out more about the group here

The podcasts are about supporting people to be more comfortable and confident talking about death and dying.

In the podcast members of the group and people whose jobs are connected to death and dying talk honestly and openly about all things related to the end of life.

It is important to talk about death and dying because it is part of life and something we all experience.

The group gently take the audience through conversations around grief, choices at the end of our life, and funeral planning.

These episodes may sound sad or hard to listen to. But they are also heartwarming and funny as we try to make these difficult conversations accessible to everyone.
