I've been interested in services for people with disabilities pretty much all my life, as my mum worked at a residential school for young people with disabilities and I spent most of my school holidays there with her when I was in primary school. I was self-employed for a while and then I joined the Department of Health, and worked on a wide range of policies, including children's mental health. After 25 years with the Department, I had the chance to apply for voluntary redundancy and decided to take that opportunity and work more with front-line services.

I am a school governor, I am on the committee of a local charity and I am a passionate advocate for people's rights. I am the mum of a child with a disability and I joined Inclusion North because I believe that everyone should have access to the right opportunities to have the best life that they can.
My role with Inclusion North is Parent Advisor covering Yorkshire and Humberside, working on a one-year project to identify the needs of family carers (including siblings) of adults with a learning disability, autism or both and to explore issues that are affecting them.

I work part-time (1 day a week) for Inclusion North so email is the best way to contact me.
