I have always worked with disabled people - mainly children and young people but also adults. I trained to be a teacher but found that I was much happier outside the classroom, in informal settings doing things where everyone can succeed, like community art projects and adapted sports projects.
In 2012 I got the chance to have a year off work, so I saved up and set off around the world on my own. I love travelling and photography, and I met loads of interesting people and saw some amazing places.
I stay chilled by taking part in mad endurance challenges - like climbing the 3 highest mountains in Great Britain in 24 hours, doing an overnight double marathon walk, and climbing Kilimanjaro. There is something about doing things that are really difficult, tiring and hurt that makes me really happy!
I have worked in Local Authorities and the voluntary sector, and have been a Chief Executive before. I like to be as hands on as possible, get out to meet people and understand what is important to people about the work we do. I am passionate about equality and inclusion and know that, no matter what you know, there is always more to learn.
